Systems Archetype

A systems archetype is a recurring configuration of reinforcing and balancing feedback loops associated with a recognizable behavior pattern. Examples include Fixes That Fail, Limits to Growth, Shifting the Burden, and Tragedy of the Commons.

Archetypes are diagnostic hypotheses, not proof. Practitioners must map the actual variables, delays, evidence, and context. See Systems Archetypes: Eight Recurring Structures.
