Burnout as a System Outcome

Burnout as a system outcome is the view that exhaustion, cynicism and reduced effectiveness at work arise from the structure of the workplace, mainly workload, recovery time and staffing loops, rather than from individual weakness.

Example

A team under sustained overload skips recovery, makes more errors, and generates rework that adds to the overload. People start to leave, which raises the load on those who stay.
