System dynamics is a modeling methodology that represents accumulations, rates, feedback loops, delays, and decision rules to explain behavior over time. Models may range from qualitative causal maps to quantified stock-and-flow simulations.
It is related to but narrower than the broad field of systems thinking. See Systems Thinking vs System Dynamics.
